Band contest and auditions... glad it's coming to an end- and Birthday presents

So, everything went really well yesterday.  My band director said that she'd never heard us play as good as we did at contest.  Crossing my fingers for a Superior rating!

I was surprisingly calm during auditions.  I sang the first verse of "Home" from the broadway musical Beauty and the Beast (which surprisingly, my drama teacher didn't know...)  I thne sang "Happy Birthday" to my drama teacher, even though it was Lee's birthday.  My teachers wanted to know how high I could sing.  On the Happy birthday, dear somebody when it gets really high, I hit the high note and my two teachers shared a look.  I'm hopeful.  But there are two senior girls who would be good for the part: Emily and Liz.  I think that Liz has the best chance, but she's really tall.  There are two guys who will probably be the Beast and the prince, though I'm not sure which will be which- Jeremiah or Matt.  My friend Amy will probably be Madame Rondeau, Beauty's mother, since she's always the mom in plays (Goldilocks- mama bear, Cinderella- the queen (prince's mom)) though she wants to be Helen.  I could see her as both.  Alyssa will be Isabel and Amanda will be Marguerite, Beauty's older sisters.  They played the stepsisters in Cinderella.  Madison will be the old woman (enchantress) and Allyson will be a princess.  Cy will be Graspo or one of the moving objects.  You can see the script (or part of it) here so that you know what parts I'm talking about.

To be completely honest, I feel really at peace with auditions.  I'll find out Monday.  Keep crossing your fingers for me, and I'm saying the Litany of Humility every day:
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being loved, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being honored, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being praised, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being approved, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being despised, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged, Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected, Deliver me, Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

It's a very beautiful prayer

On another note, we're getting a german shepherd pup.  That was Lee's birthday present.  We're getting a girl, and Lee wants to name her Ivy.  I personally like Edelweiss better, but it's his puppy.  His actual present had Scooby Snacks, a dog bowl, a tug-o-war rope, a leash, and a squeeky toy.  Elli thought that the Scooby Snacks were cereal and we joked that the leash was for Lee.   Okay, I need to work on my paper, because there will be at least 5 or 6 11-year-old boys at my house tonight for Lee's birthday and there's no way I'll be able to get any homework done then.  Adios!

What's happening with me today

I really shouldn't be writing this...I've got a project and a paper and a test... all due before Monday (test today... in about 40 minutes... Astronomy!  Yikes) Sociology paper due Friday, Music project due on the 5th and I spent most of last night trying to get a video off our camera for my music project and answering questions about baby names on Yahoo Answers... my favorite time wasting activity.  When all this craziness is done, I'm supposed to be working on my screenplay (Twice Upon A Time)...*sigh*  I'm WAY too busy...

I'm going to sing for my piano teacher today before my lessons- she also teaches voice and is Elli's voice teacher.  She's going to give me some pointers so I can be really good for my audition on March 1st.  I'm so nervous!!! And I'm getting myself all worked up about this...I've been excited about this for a year...no joke.  I really hope I get the part.  It's my favorite fairy tale, and a musical, the last one I'll be able to do at my school- The Enchantment of Beauty and the Beast- not the Disney version- but still...

I feel like a complete dork because I spent some of my birthday money on the 2 disc special platinum edition of Beauty and the Beast... and I'll probably go see it in theaters in 3D if I can get around to it.  We ordered a bunch of other movies, and they're all coming by Feb 3, but my movie won't come till the 24th!  *frustrated*
Oh well, wouldn't have time to watch it anyway.

I'm going with a bunch of friends to see the college's musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in a few weeks, so that should be fun...

We picked parts for my church's passion play on Sunday.  It's called the Living Stations of the Cross.  I'm a junior this year, so I was hoping for a good part, like Mary Magdelene, Pilate's wife, or Mary, wife of Clopas, or Mary, mother of John... or even a flash back Mary (we have a LOT of Marys) but I look nothing like the girl who got the part of Mary, my friend Heather.  She'll love it that she can hold the baby Jesus at the beginning (we start with the presentation in the temple- there's a flashback when Jesus dies and two girls stand with a baby doll and the kid who played 12 year old Jesus... I can't do the 12 year old Jesus flashback- I'm 4'9" and not only is my friend like 6 ft tall, but the kid playing 12 year old Jesus is taller than me...yeah, I'd look real motherly.)  So anyway, I was hoping for a part where I get to do a lot of crying, since according to Elli, I'm really really good at fake crying (who knew?)

Yeah.  I'm a serving girl.  I get a towel chucked at my face (if I'm lucky) and I stand there with a straight face.
This should be interesting

Okay, I just wasted 10 minutes... I've only got half an hour before my test!!!  Study, you fretting Haili, STUDY!!!!

okay.  I'm out.

I'm doing a terrible job of listening to myself when I tell myself no.

No, Haili, you cannot go and waste time on TVtropes.org even though they're very interesting.
No, Haili, you cannot read your novel.
  or Ellyn's
  or Elli's,
  or James Dashner's
  or Chris Baty's
  or ANYBODY'S, for that matter
No, Haili, you cannot go on a youtube karaoke session
No, Haili, you cannot watch Lee play Gus's skateboard game on the computer
No, Haili, you cannot practice "By the Limpid Stream"
I don't care if you have lessons tomorrow and still don't have it memorized.  And I don't care that you need to practice
No, Haili, you may not fill out that Advanced Character Questionnaire for Calista.  I don't care how many good ideas you've come up with for her.  You have to wait until August when you can do Camp NaNo.
No, Haili you cannot ignore the fact that you need to make dinner
No, Haili, ignoring your paper will not make it go away.
Do you want to have to stay up late tonight?  You're sick, remember?

I don't remember.  But...
Don't deny it, Haili.  Get the paper done and I'll stop nagging you.
Fine!
Off to the stupid logical fallacy full land of my boring paper about genetic engineering and blah blah blah...
*sigh*
sorry peoples, I broke my promise...
