The Final Chapter and a New Scene

Oh boy oh boy oh boy... very exciting things happening in my life right now!

  1. I just got a new microphone, so I can now record the audiobook of my novel.  Why is this exciting, you may ask?  The sooner I get it done, the sooner my parents read my novel.  Neither has any time (or in my mom's case) any desire to read, but both spend an inordinate amount of time in the car.  Put my book on CDs and they both can read it.  Plus, I like recording myself playing stuff and my old microphone got lost while we cleaned the playroom.  And this one is much nicer anyway.
  2. Also just got a new book of French horn music- and it's DISNEY! Why wouldn't this be exciting?  I've spent most of the night playing Prince Ali and Go the Distance.  Prince Ali is stuck in my head.  But I love it.
  3. Elli's birthday presents came today. She's going to love them.
  4. I just got paid $121 for babysitting.  Seems my life has been babysitting.
  5. I finished editing my novel.  Am working on getting it up on CreateSpace.  I also shared it with a few people, which is exciting.
  6. Elli's getting her novel up on CreateSpace as well.  It's a lot smaller than she anticipated, but it looks cute and will be a good beginning chapter book.
  7. I figured out who to dedicate my book to.  And no, I'm not telling.  It's a secret!
  8. In a matter of 2 hours and 15 minutes Camp NaNoWriMo starts!!! Twice Upon a Time, here I come.  (I was acting it out for Elli the other night using a small Mary statue as Jennie, a silver cross as Micah, a wood cross as Nolan, and an angel statue thing as Connie.  I will never look at that silver cross the same way again.  I felt ridiculous.  It was also like 11pm...)
  9. My cousin's getting married this weekend!  Need I say more?
  10. We just got memberships at the Y which is kinda fun.  Did my orientation tonight and discovered that there are machine where you can bike and read AT THE SAME TIME!  Forget the ellipticals and treadmills with the TVs- give me a good book and a crash free stationary bike that is klutz proof.  Lee's so funny.  He's so excited to go there and work out.  He thinks he's so cool.  "Haili, can we go to the Y every day?  I need to *flexes* work out" (keep in mind, he's 11... dear me...)
Reasons why I'm not happy
  1. CreateSpace is being obnoxious with formatting my book.  And I mean OBNOXIOUS.  Every time I upload my novel, it screws something up and I have to go fix it.

Story ideas already...

So I woke up this morning- actually dragged myself out of bed at 6:45 am (I usually get up an hour earlier than that, but I was up late babysitting last night and didn't get home til midnight) and somehow managed to have an idea for a story in my head.  Oh, the crazy things my tired brain comes up with.

Anyway, tentatively titled "The Time Traveler's Daughter" and going to be used for next NaNoWriMo (in November, not Camp NaNo) if I can get a plot, it's about a girl growing up in modern times who discovers that she's not from this time period.  Things that tip her off are her height (she's really short, and humans have been getting taller every generation)  her ideals, what she believes in, ect, ect. Not sure, I'll have to do research.  But it turns out that her father was trying to time travel and she was playing with it and accidentally got transported to the year 2012.  The machine may have made her younger- maybe back to a baby, I'm not sure, these are just swirling life smudges (Beauty is Blind reference!!!) in my head.  But it does wipe her memory, and she is adopted (most likely) and raised in modern times, until she starts thinking "I feel like I'm in the wrong time period" which is the thought that triggered this whole idea.  And maybe there's a romance.  And there will be 3rd person flashbacks to her grieving family in their time period and her dad trying to fix his machine to find his daughter.  And maybe her dad comes and finds her.  And there should be a bad guy- but who?  And maybe I'll actually write this in 3rd person for a change.  I'm thinking Mina for her name, but I'm not sure I'm crazy about that.  And I don't know what time period she's from.  Maybe the late 1800's?

What are your thoughts?

Opening night for the play tonight!!!  Wish me luck!  My aunt is coming up from Arizona for my sister's confirmation.

All right.  Adios!

Dresses and all things Girly

I am currently babysitting and waiting for the girl's mom to get home, and I really need to be working on a scene in which I have "a character making a decision with unexpected consequences"  I have to give her "playable emotions" and put her "in an extreme situation and force her to face a crucial, pivotal decision that causes extreme emotions."  Though I am getting my period, I'm just not in the mood to write about extreme sappy emotions.  I currently have my main character If, a street rat (no making fun of names...) leaving her foster home to return to the streets with her friend Dodge.  They are then confronted by a rival gang (this takes place in Chicago) and Dodge is stabbed.  Because If decided to come with (she was the object of the attack...) Dodge is hurt.  NOW WHAT??? *sigh*

Anyway, the girl I babysit just lives with her mom, so the bathroom of their apartment is completely decorated Disney princess style, which is awesome.  And they have these magazine covers on the wall for decoration.  I looked them up and found a whole bunch and I will put them below on this post because they make me smile (and you should read everything on them...they're funny...)

of course I would start with Beauty and the Beast "a great novel" that's my princess

pink v. blue!!! haha  "I liked her before I knew she was a princess!" :)

Not terribly impressed, but I like the "gooseberry pie" bit

Prince Charming Confesses: "THAT'S NOT MY NAME!!!" hahahahaha...

Okay, Jasmine looks creepy in this.  "A Whole New Girl" is kinda funny... but "Rajah gave me RABIES!" has to be the best... though I must confess, I have no clue who Rajah is... can't remember.  must go watch Aladdin now...

Colors of the wind: the song Elli's skating to this year.  "Meeko takes a bite out of life... and everything else in sight." hey, that almost rhymed...

Reflections of mulan... according to Mushu.. Mushu!!!!  Must go find Mulan and watch it again now...

"We are the daughters of Triton!"  "I'm not allowed to eat crab or fish anymore!" hahahaha... I never thought of that!

Yeah, don't know this story very well... though I do remember "Friends on the other side..." and "Louis' big musical breakthrough" sounds cool...

Okay, just watched this...And this is GOOD!  I've always wondered how to make hazelnut soup.  FRYING PANS!!!  the SNUGGLY DUCKLING!!! FLYNN RIDER'S TRUE IDENTITY!! How can you not want to read this????? :D

Okay, Elli, here's to you... she loves Tink.  "We were only trying to drown her!!!" that's my favorite...  I wanna go to Neverland now! Darn it.  How to make a statement with just the ring of a bell...Glad to know that's in there... I've always wanted to know that.

At least out loud.... I won't say I'm in love...
hehe... AIR-HERCS!!!
Nut...Meg. :D that should be on here somewhere.  Funniest part of the movie.
Don't shoot me, but I did really like the sappy "I can go the Distance" song.  Really.  I'm serious.

Okay, moving on. I got a dress.
Apt. 9 Floral Pleated DressI can't believe how perfect it is.  Purple? check.  Roses? Check.  Shorter? Check.  Modest? Check. Affordable? Check?  Silver shoe compatibility? Check.  Pockets? CHECK!! :) Fits well? check.  Fits in an 8, six sizes smaller than the one your mom first picks up? check.  Okay, you're a winner.  I love this dress!   I ordered some silver "big girl" heels on Amazon and they're on their way (can't find size five shoes in the stores, ya'know) I'm so excited.  It's for my spring recital and Easter.

Okay, If is yelling at me, telling me I'm leaving Dodge bleeding to death on the streets of Chicago and that I should do something about that.  OKAY, IF, I'M COMING!!!!

Adios

I really should be doing something else...

Why do I like elipses (...) so much?  I use them constantly!
I need to be working on screenplays... and my music quiz... I really should go...

I'm babysitting my guidance couselor's daughter tomorrow, so that should be fun.  My weekend is insanely busy and our first Living Stations practice is Saturday... I'll explain more later... I REALLY should go do my work.

Adios... (there I go again...STOP!)
