Living Stations and Disney Medleys

Almost a year ago, I posted this snippet:

We picked parts for my church's passion play on Sunday.  It's called the Living Stations of the Cross.  I'm a junior this year, so I was hoping for a good part, like Mary Magdelene, Pilate's wife, or Mary, wife of Clopas, or Mary, mother of John... or even a flash back Mary (we have a LOT of Marys) but I look nothing like the girl who got the part of Mary, my friend Heather.  She'll love it that she can hold the baby Jesus at the beginning (we start with the presentation in the temple- there's a flashback when Jesus dies and two girls stand with a baby doll and the kid who played 12 year old Jesus... I can't do the 12 year old Jesus flashback- I'm 4'9" and not only is my friend like 6 ft tall, but the kid playing 12 year old Jesus is taller than me...yeah, I'd look real motherly.)  So anyway, I was hoping for a part where I get to do a lot of crying, since according to Elli, I'm really really good at fake crying (who knew?)
Yeah.  I'm a serving girl.  I get a towel chucked at my face (if I'm lucky) and I stand there with a straight face. This should be interesting

Well guess what?  It's that time of year again!  Living Stations.  And I am a senior, which means I'm guaranteed a good part.

But before I get into the goodies of this year, I wanted to comment on my disappointment with last year.  My freshman year I was a weeping woman.  When I was a sophomore, I was the first girl to play the newly added part of the prophetess Anna (see presentation in the temple above).  My junior year I was a servant girl.  Not big parts at all.  As a weeping woman, I went up to Jesus during the 8th station and cried.  As Anna, I basically knelt and prayed, and watched Mary and Joseph leave with the baby.  As a servant girl, I gave a cup to Pilate to drink out of.  That's it.  But that's not to say that I didn't have a very big part.  Every year (and I've been doing this since 6th grade-I was in the crowd) I've come up with a story.
Freshman Year: I was Leehi, a pregnant weeping woman.  Here's my backstory.
Sophomore Year: Anna, the prophetess.  When we fastforwarded 33 years, I changed my headscarf and took of the creepy grey braid wig and became Anna's granddaughter by the same name, also gifted with prophecy.  I knew what was going to happen.  I'd seen it coming, but kept it to myself.  I was dreading the inevitable. I had a story written for it, but I never typed it.  I don't know where it is.
Junior Year: Terentia Octavia Camilla of Rome, aka Lira. I actually looked up how Romans were named so I could get an accurate name.  I wanted to switch the cup I held out for a lyre we had from when we did the David skits for VBS.  They never let me, but I kept Lira as my nickname.  I was a simple Roman girl who could care less what could happen to a Hebrew "Messiah."  But a miracle changed my heart.  You can read Lira's story here.

Well this year, I dropped my name in the hat for Mary Magdalene, because I love her story, and Mary, because, as a senior, I could, and why not?  (How we pick parts: you get two pieces of paper, write your name on them, and put them in the bowl for the character(s) you want.  The leaders then pray [so do you out while you watch last year's show on DVD] and pick one out of the bowl)

Guess what?  I'm Mary.  The Mary.  Yeah.  I'm praying the rosary on my way to school now...praying that I do her justice.  I'm not worried about the acting, but I should get my prayer life together if I'll be portraying the mother of God.  And ironically, this is the first "lead" role I've ever gotten in my life.  I'm so excited and so happy.  I was totally not expecting to be Mary AT ALL.

In other news, why I've not blogged in forevers:

We'll be performing it February 8th.  And my laptop's dying, which means I should go to sleep.  G'night.

School...and I'm in pain

So, 3rd day of school.  I'm awake!  I'm alive!  Now I know what I believe inside! Sorry, have been listening to too much Skillet this morning.

So, I had my first day working yesterday- I'm a writing tutor at my community college, and I tutored my first student!  I think it went really well.  And that's all you'll get out of me because I have to keep confidentiality, so yeah.

I'm taking Intro to Theater, Nutrition, Ancient and Medieval World History, and Environmental Ethics and Career Development online.  Spent an hour and a half outlining yesterday for History and only got through 5 of the 20 pages in chapter 1. yikes.  Haven't even looked at Ethics or Career Development yet, but I did finish Nutrition.

I went riding for the first time in a very long time on Sunday.  Horseback riding.  It was fun, though the horse I usually ride, Angel, is limping, so that's sad.  My neighbor has horses and she lets me ride them sometimes.  Anyway, the saddle I usually used when I rode more was broken, so I had to use a different saddle.  Well, the reason why I used the one particular saddle was because it was the only one with the stirrups shortened enough for me.  Well, the saddle I used Sunday had one of the stirrups (the right one) short enough, but the left one hadn't been shortened enough.  I could still reach it, but it was harder and I could only get my toes in.  So whenever we galloped, I lost my left stirrup and ended up holding on for dear life, bouncing all over the saddle.  I've also been having issues with gripping things-I played one song on the guitar and my hand just about killed me it hurt so bad.  I also had an issue writing half a page of Calista's character profile.  Yeah.  I don't know why.  So, I'm gripping the pommel or horn of the saddle and my hand is protesting in pain.  I knew I was going to get saddle sore, but because of all the bouncing, I bruised my legs and may or may not have done something to my lower back.

That pain may have more to do with my 23 pound backpack. (Yes, I weighed it)  So now just about every part of me hurts.  I feel like an old lady.

In good news, I finished Twice Upon a Time!  You can like my facebook page, www.facebook.com/3kingdoms2girls1fate My mom was visiting her mom last weekend and my grandma had just finished When the Stars Fall.  So my mom told her about me finishing my screenplay, and she was really impressed.  She says to me, "You know, my friend knows Dan Disney.  When you get it edited, I could see if he'll take a look at it"
ME: OoO or something like that.  Trying to keep myself from screaming in excitment.  Hello, DREAM. COME. TRUE.
Everything's extremely iffy so I'm not getting my hopes up too far, but still- MY GRANDMA'S FRIEND KNOWS DAN DISNEY!!! What?????

Yeah.

I got a laptop.  I found a mac (I need one for the music program at Concordia if I go there) for less than $500, so yeah.  It was about $370, but my dad wanted to get a warranty, so we got a 2 year warranty for $105.  It's coming Tuesday and I'm so excited.

Oh, am Disneybounding as Flounder today.  Having too much fun with this.  Tried to get Elli to be Ariel, but she was too lazy to figured it out.  Thinking I'll be Terence tomorrow and Marie (from Aristocats) Friday.  I have a flourecent yellow and aquamarine striped tank top on right now with a blue shirt thing over it.  Two of the three items I own from Aeropostale.  My mom decided I needed to get them.  Didn't realize at the time how perfectly they'd work for a Flounder Disneybound.

OK, gotta go.  Class in an hour and I need to read through some history.

My random project of the weekend: a mock-up cover of Beauty is Blind:

I love the black background- it really shows her living in darkness.  And the purple text is perfect-am not a fan of the font, but Createspace doesn't offer much for fonts.  And the painting is one by Diego Velázquez so it's now public domain since he's been dead for a long time.  I'm still going to credit him.  It's called "Portrait of a Blind Woman" and it looks EXACTLY like I imagine Calista.  The only thing I don't like is the fact that her eyes are closed so you can't see that they're purple, but still. It's perfect.

Camp NaNoWriMo, VBS, and musicals

So, I'm doing Camp again, trying to finish.  And it seems to be working.  I've been giving myself a 30 minute word-war against the clock every night and it seems to be doing the trick.  I've gotten on average 4-5 pages done, which translates to 2,000-2,500 words. I started the month with 24,500 words, or 47 pages.  I just added 20 pages to that in the last 6 days (33,500 words) and FINALLY figured out Jennie and Micah's love theme in a way that it didn't sound like the soundtrack from How to Train Your Dragon... and fit well with Connie and Nolan's theme...and now I have them together! at last!
It's a perfect mystery under the stars!

VBS started today, and this year is the Luminous Mysteries! (link in case you don't know what those are)
I'm Glinda, the VBS volunteer!  I wear a pink tutu *scowl* pale pink shirt with tulle "wings" on the shoulders *scowl* Elli's pink flats, which are kinda small, even on me (they're 2's, if that gives you any idea.  She wore my shoes today on accident-we each have a pair of $5 "fairy-tale" black flats [they look like the flats from the Disney movies, so we call them fairy tale flats] hers are 2's, mine are 3's.  She's like "My shoes feel too big" Me: "Are you sure they're not mine?" They were.  Oh well.) oh, and a tiara.  (COOL!  I like tiaras!)

So let me set the record straight here:
I love fairy tales.  In every way shape and form, I am a total fairy tale freak.
I love Disney.  And magic. (Watched Beauty and the Beast last night with Elli *smiles insanely wide*
I DO NOT like pink, glitter, or otherwise insanely girly things, like tutus.
Pouffy ballgown?  If it's not pink, then yes.  Tiaras?  Definitely. I'll wear coral, but not pink.  Especially not in that abundance.  And I had a bad experience with glitter when I was the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella of Loreland (not Disney...) The glitter would not come off for weeks, and in every picture I took I have shining triangles on my cheeks.  We used glitter eyeshadow all over me.  And the last performance- well, let's just say they were trying to get rid of the glitter.  By slathering it all over me.  I was glittery for two weeks. No joke.

Also just got a whole bunch of soundtracks and musicals and Disney music from the library.  Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid on Broadway. (She's in Love, Me...ah!  great songs! One Step Closer...) I have the soundtrack for How to Train Your Dragon and I love listening to it because every character has an instrument.
Dragons=brass
Toothless specifically=French horn (or so I think)
Astrid=violin
Vikings=bagpipes
and Hiccup, our hero? A Tin Whistle.  And it fits him perfectly. :)

Gotta go.  It's late and Glinda needs her beauty sleep...

Okay...why do I write so many posts about dresses?

To answer that, it's probably because I'm at a time in my life where I need to get a lot of dresses (ie prom??)  And I don't think I ever mentioned to you guys what my prom dress looks like.  I bought it for next year in June on sale for $40.  The original price? $179.  Oh yeah, I'm good.

Anyway, here's what it looks like:
I like how it's purple, (my favorite color) but is still in the style of Belle's dress from Beauty and the Beast, which if you can't tell by now, is my favorite movie and she's my favorite princess... you get the picture.  This picture isn't all that great and it looks better on me than on the model.  I guess you can define better in your own way, but since I have bigger hips, the skirt puffs out more and looks more like a ball gown, without having too much dress.  I also like how the pickups are detailed with little jewels that remind me of stars, more specifically, stars in the Keidreian sky, which is described to be purple.  Also, it's a wonderful reminder of Calista and a great cross of my "Belle" and Disney's.  Here's a detail of the beading:
Elegant Silver Bridal Comb 8242Swarovski Crysal Floral Bridal Comb 2374
I immediately saw it and thought of a tiara.  I've always wanted to wear a tiara for prom because it's the one night of your life that you get to be a princess before your wedding.  I completely missed out on the cute little girl princess stage (I seriously never got a single Disney princess dress-up dress while my sister had a whole crate- I just wasn't interested)  I'm making up for it now.  Anyway, I found a few tiaras that matched it.

But I just couldn't get this little number out of my head:
HB7
It's $12 and it would be perfect on a small half-bun style like Belle wears.  And I'm not complaining about the price.  It's cheaper than Claire's!  Still, it's gold and wouldn't match the silver of my prom dress, so I had all but given up on this little simple circlet.
Until I remembered one tiny detail: I can't wear my prom dress for my piano recital! Or homecoming (if I go...who knows?)  As much as I loved my purple dress, in my heart, I still kinda wanted a yellow "Belle" dress.  And when I remembered my earlier fascination with Disneybound, I thought, what if I Disneybounded this?  So I've spent the last hour or so on the internet looking for a $50 or less yellow ruffled dress or a yellow dress with roses that would go with this, and it has to have straps.  I'm not liking the strapless thing very much, especially for a piano recital.  But a lot of the dresses have ruffles and flowers in places that would be highly unflattering on me but would look great on Elli (the bust area-yep, we're the extremes, I'm huge, she's tiny.  Not fair, but still)  And then there's this great one shoulder dress with roses on it that would be lovely, but it's not going to look good, I can already tell. Oh yeah, did I mention it had to be modest?  And that it either has to be knee length or floor length, nothing inbetween or I look shorter than I am?  Yeah.
This looks promising, if not really short.
However, those dresses that look kinda short on the models will look fine on little 4'9"er here. (nickname from my friend Goldie)
Close Out Sale Formal Ball Gown Dress Party Gala Prom Pageant Yellow 2x 18
This is pretty, but a bit much for a piano recital...sigh $55, too...
Let's pay $40 for a fitted t shirt that got mauled by an angry person with scissors... and call it a dress!

Like I need sparkles there...and this is a shirt, not a dress.
Uh, looks like you forgot a piece of the pattern...can I have some fabric with my dress?

This is called Nom de Plume...now "One Jump" from Aladdin is stuck in my head...
one jump ahead of my doom, next time, gonna use a nom de plume...
Looks like a skating costume though.

Okay, done making fun of random immodest dresses... I need to go to bed.

PS:
I'm on the skit team for Vacation Bible School at my church this year. It's my last year, and I was hoping for a bigger part.  Most girls just end up being sheep or something.  This year's theme is The Luminous Mysteries, which is another way of talking about Jesus' ministry (Baptism in the Jordan, Wedding at Cana, Transfiguration, Institution of the Eucharist...something else I can't remember...) Anyway, the skits always do a wacky theme like Inspector Gadget, the Jetsons, game show... this year's theme was suggested by none other than me and Elli!

Elli used to sing this song on the way to church: "We're off to see Jesus, the wonderful Son of God!" sung to the tune of "We're off to see the Wizard"
...and yes, you've guessed it- we are totally doing Wizard of Oz theme this year!  whohoo!  It was like my favorite movie as a child.  And we just got parts today!  And I'm...not Dorothy, but I'm Glinda! The smart one who gives dimwitted Dorothy and her even dumber companion Scarecrow a Bible and tells them to find Jesus.  This means...I have to wear pink! ek.  Oh well, the things I do for drama... wonder what sort of costume I'll get?  Find out on August 5th, I guess.

G'night people...

Disneyness that goes on forever... :D

So... I'm always discovering new things.  Today, I am supposed to be doing college-y stuff, like looking for applications, and scholarships, signing up for the ACT...looking for a job, emailing my old english professor to see if she'll recommend me to do student tutoring next semester... summer's slipping away, and senior year is already upon me... *yikes*

Instead, I discover two things.  Pintrest.  And DisneyBound.  At the same time.  Here's what I found on pintrest (via facebook)
Tangled and Aladdin
Okay.  You got me.  I only care about Aladdin and Flynn at the end... way ahead of you.  Yeah, I almost died laughing.

Disneybound, for those of you who have not discovered it, makes outfits based on Disney characters (or in some cases, songs, as in "I see the light")adorable!Elli wants this.  Badly.  I can see why.

Surprisingly enough, I'm not a fan of most of the Belle outfits (yes, there's about 3 versions of her yellow dress, most which I can't stand, one of her blue dress, and her green one.  I like the green one)
Buy it here!
This one's one of my favorites.  It may have something to do with the fact I was reading TrudiRose's Gaston fanfiction this weekend...("Just Rewards" and "A Man of Stature"-Belle doesn't get out in time, Gaston knocks Adam unconscious and threatens to torture him if Belle won't marry him.  Then the Enchantress curses Gaston to be a dwarf until he can find someone who loves him... when he breaks the curse, he even screws that up... but he fixes it.  It's good.  Read it.)
Buy it here!
I like the guy inspired outfits better than the girls...
Buy it here!Especially this one-the ruffled shirt! And the boots!
The one yellow dress Belle one I don't hate... but am not terribly crazy about...
Buy it here!
This is what I'm talking about...ugly!
Mrs. Potts!

Adorable!  the shoes are awesome!
They did Phillipe!
Buy it here!
I love this dress!

Enough Beauty and the Beast...

I can dress like Abu?

Awesome! (the hair bow!!!)
If Georgette were human, she'd definitely wear this... this is the most accurate one I've seen:
Buy it here!
Susan!
Buy it here!
FOR NARNIA!!!!(sorry, couldn't resist that...)
Aww, Melody...
Buy it here!Gotta love the treble clef thing
and with her mommy-
Dinglehoppher- I mean, fork, earrings!  Aww!
I was so confused about this one...feeling very stupid for not knowing what it was... I mean, there's no character named Wisp, is there?
OOOOOOOOH!...It's from Brave, the Will-of-the-Wisps... Elli says.  Me: oooooohhhhhhhh!!!!!! I get it now! *lightbulb*  It's pretty...

Elli's been on a mission for a new swimsuit and I saw this one and thought of her:
ariel swim suitHow hard can it be to find a little girl's size twelve version of this?  In a tankini, of course.  No bikinis allowed in our house.  I started looking- apparently, very hard.

This is adorable.  I would wear this.  No joke.

Then, of course, there's this-

*tilts head* Belle...Star Wars... Wait, is the Beast a wookie?  WHAT?!? *mind blown*

Okay, I'm done with that... for now.

Blast from the past- remember all those magazine covers for Disney princesses I did a while back?  Well, I discovered Prince ones... here goes...
Rapunzel’s Flynn Rider on the cover of NYLON Guys. View the whole collection.
Ceramic unicorns, apples, noses...frying pans... this thing's got it all. :D
Tiana’s Naveen on the cover of Best Life. View the whole collection.
Okay, I've seen this movie twice, so maybe that's why I don't find it super hilarious, but I do like "Top Chop: Naveen's mincing tips"
Mulan’s Shang on the cover of China Men’s Health. View the whole collection.Happy Chinese New Year!
"Let's get down to business!" "Mysterious as the dark side of the moooon!" "What do we want? A girl worth fighting for!" Gotta love it when they shamelessly quote song lyrics
DRAGON, NOT LIZARD...*shakes head* Lucky crickets...
Hercules on Men’s Fitness. View the whole collection. He may not be a prince, but he’s a god.
Hades' way to burn fat- with your flaming hair!
We dance, we kiss, we schmooze, we carry on... we go home happy.
Phil's boy...
Oh, note about Hercules: as awesome a movie as it is, don't watch it the first night of a residential VBS camp for kids- they see baby Herc and ask, "Is that Jesus?"  They get all confused... (not a smart idea, people...)
Pocahontas’ John Smith on Details. View the whole collection. He’s not exactly a prince, but he’s still worthy.
Willow Trees: more than just your average tree
JOHN SMITH: the person to watch this year- discovers a new world and makes friends with the chief- beat that!
Jasmine’s Aladdin on Time Magazine. View the whole collection.
Deadly pet tigers.  All this for a loaf of bread?
Why Magic Carpet Rides are the perfect Romantic date...(well, duh!)
Genie says no...

And these- ads?

I love the villain ones... and look closely... The frying pan is made by Corona Co, the compass by Virginia Company. And 20 cents for the atlantis necklace? What a deal- can't even get a candy bar for that much anymore...and ultimate power?  Wow.

Hey, these are new!

Mulan... haha!
Ever want love advice from the princesses?

Thank you, Jasmine.
Don't know if I've done these yet-

Always wanted to know how to make gooseberry pie...
Working on Disney Princess magazines and they’ll be out soon!
Belle’s Beast on National Geographic. View the whole collection.

That looks really cool- and of course it's National Geographic...
Ariel’s Prince Eric on Men’s Journal. View the whole collection.
He looks kinda weird, but I like how he's holding the necklace.
Aurora’s Prince Philip on Esquire. View the whole collection.
No carrots.  Prince Philip is one of my favorite princes- someone pointed out that he looks like a grown up Peter Pan... I still think Sleeping Beauty should be called Prince Philip because Philip's the main character- all Aurora does is sleep.  Boring!  This is good.Cinderella’s Prince Charming on GQ. View the whole collection.
How to deal with crazy sisters-in-law... help get your sanity back-I never thought of dealing with them as sisters-in-law- ouch, Charming!  Of Mice and Men- the tale of Jacques and Gus.  Cinderella used a cleaning service?
Snow White’s Prince Ferdinand/Charming on Men’s Vogue. And Thus, this begins my collection of Disney Prince Magazines. Stay Tuned!
How to deal with your wife's guy friends...haha.  Someday my princess will come... nice.
Can't forget, an apple a day, Ferdinand.

Okay, wow:

haha...

I knew she was there!

hahahahahaha- Tarzan! Can't...stop...laughing!
I need to stop...

Ariel...Belle... They're all crying because if Snow White dies and fails, they'll never exist.  Aww!
Don't they go good together?
Seriously, these people look like they're in the same movie

What is Adam doing to Shang? hmm...

Belle's face...! Apparently, Charlotte stole the Princes- but it looks like they all got em back.

Gaston keeps blowing out Hades' hair... haha
Hellfire!
no really, literally.

Don't mess with the potions, people...

Aww, Belle and Rapunzel are friends (it's me and Elli! Reading together!)
Belle's so excited, Rapunzel's just in the zone.  That's totally me and my sister...
Showed this to Elli and she says "That will be me someday, with my hair all over the bed..." (she wants long long hair...personally, I can't stand long hair.  Once it starts getting caught in my armpits, I chop it off...to like, my chin)
Conversation:
Me (Belle): Guess what, Elli?  Here's where she meets Prince Charming, but she doesn't know it yet- that's not til chapter three.
Her (Rapunzel): Shut up, Haili.  I don't care.  I'm trying to read.
((so, so true... down to the way we're sitting.  I always read (well, do EVERYTHING cross legged- except drive...) and she's always lying on her stomach.  She's even the blond one (albeit dark blonde) with blue-green eyes, I'm the brown haired, hazel eyed one (and yes, Belle has hazel eyes-they said so on her profile thing.  Plus all her merchandise has greenish brown eyes.  Elli's got the side sweep thing, I've got the flyaway bangs with the one hair that won't pick a side.  And I like to put my hair in ponytails and tie it with a big ribbon bow.  I get so excited when I read.  Elli likes painting, I like stories... it's kinda creepy.  I like horses, she likes anything small and cute, so she'd love Pascal. We're both barefoot a lot, but I wear flats more than anything else. Oh, and her favorite movie's Tangled, and mine's Beauty and the Beast.  Coincidence?  I think not.))

And of course Merida and Mulan do archery together...
While Tiana and Snow White cook...

Pocahontas goes for a swim with Ariel...
And then everyone hangs out at Ariel's grotto:

Cinderella talks about shoes, Belle is extremely interested in Ariel's book- she's never read the real story of mermaids, Pocahontas makes fast friends with Flounder, and Jasmine and Ariel play "He loves me/He loves me not" Ariel makes a note to ask Eric to take her to Tiana's Place for their next date...

Disney Dance party!
i was just thinking about how much fun they’d all have if they went on a boat with rapunzel. so, i photoshopped it.
Rapunzel takes them on a boating outing for her birthday party.  (Love the reflection!)

Okay, really long post.  I'm done now.  For real.

Disney freak is over... maybe.  For now.
Haili

oh, and by the way, I own nothing.  They're from Disneybound and Petite Tiaras.  Not trying to take anything, just share what I like.  :D
